Becoming a landlord is not a decision that should be made lightly. <br /><br />First take a look at your motivations for selling your home. What will you do in 3 months, 6 mos., a year if/when your home doesn't sell or rent. Always have a backup plan (or a few backup plans). Having your plan b in place can help avert financial disaster, i.e. foreclosure, bankruptcy, short sale. Is moving out of your home worth it?<br /><br />Secondly turn to a reputable real estate company/associate who isn't afraid to tell you the truth. So many companies will tell you what you want to hear, then leave you high and dry when your expectations aren't met.
